Active Ragdoll System

The Games physical animations make use of a so called "active ragdoll" system. Inspired by games like Humans Fall Flat, Octodad, or Totally Accurate Battle Simulator this gives every motion and interaction a funny twist.

How it all works

The basic idea is, that you use joints and physical forces to drive the Bones of the character. So every bone can collide with objects, and impact the whole body when its hit, because its physically connected.
I use 2 seperate rigs. One that is regularly controlled by an animation exported from any 3D Software, and a seocnd One that tries to reach the pose of the first rig by using physical forces appied join joints.
